I visited more cousins in Chicago — or rather the suburbs. This also let me visit with a niece who had moved there last year. Chicago, Second City! People say there that the moniker doesn’t necessarily come from being the second biggest city (at one time) but because it was rebuilt after the great Chicago fire. What a great place. The architecture is amazing, not just the outstanding buildings downtown, it also the neighborhoods. Each neighborhood has it’s own feel and definitely a sense of community.
Walked through Millennium Park to see the famous Bean and Crown fountain. Even paddled my feet in the fountain. Said hello to the lions at the Art Institute

I was able to do the Architecture Assoc of Chicago architecture tour. A great 90 minutes where the volunteer docent explained about the different types of architecture while we cruised up the Chicago River. She also explained how they turned the river backwards into to stop all the pollution flowing into Lake Michigan — instead they dumped it more down river….. Hmmmm. Learned a lot about Chicago and will have to return some day.

And finally on the Chicago Tribune building — a little bit of Beantown — well Cambridge. Look closely at the top left part of the picture.
