Cleveland to Chicago

Visited a friend from school outside of Cleveland and we spent the morning visiting the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Wild for those of us who have lived through so much of it. Highlighted some of my favorites. Too much to document — look it up online.

From there I traveled down to Columbus OH and stayed with my last living aunt. So fabulous to spend time hanging out with her and my cousins. However, didn’t leave me much time to write anything.

From there I drove to the lower part of Michigan — the Mitten part, not the Upper Pennisula where my mother’s family is from.

The flatlands of Indiana

I could not believe how flat it was in Indiana as I drove over to South Bend — just had to see the famous Notre Dame University.

Spent a couple of days with another cousin and got to visit a nephew who lives up there. My cousin the engineer helped me reconfigure my car — much more effective for getting to things. Love those engineers.

From Michigan I drove around the southern end of Lake Michigan to get to Indiana Dunes National Park. Another stamp in my National Parks Passport. What a place. I hadn’t realized that there were huge dunes along the southern and eastern coast of Lake Michigan. At a couple of the parks in Michigan the dunes are so high that you are warned not to climb down unless you are sure you can climb back, because they won’t rescue you!

Indiana Dunes are high enough. Unfortunately they were doing work at several of the places so I couldn’t do as many hikes as I hoped to. And it was windy so the shoreline was quite rough.

But you can see Chicago from here — my next stop. Look closely
