Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

I’m so glad I went. People had told me it was an excellent museum, so figured it was worth the trip. Little did I know what I showed up on the opening weekend of it’s expansion that more than doubled the size. I was blown away by the art: the diversity of different kinds of expression and representation really blew up my prejudices about the midwest. Always good to be proven wrong.

The building itself is gorgeous, and although it is in a city it strives to feel embedded in nature. And to bring nature inside as well.

I’m not going to say much about the art. There was too much to take in.

Came back the next day to see the 2 special exhibits: America 250 and Keith Haring in 3D

I wanted to walk the sculpture garden trails but the rain decided to come down in buckets, so back on the road I went.
